James Airey was born at the original Helme Chase maternity unit in Kendal, and was educated at Queen Elizabeth School, Kirkby Lonsdale. James has had a twin career as an award-winning local sheep farmer and a leading politician. He is a truly local candidate who really understands the issues that matter most to local people.
As the Leader of the Conservatives in Cumbria, James has worked hard for our local community ensuring residents’ voices are heard and local issues solved.
One of James’s biggest successes was securing £170m of funding from Government to help Kendal homeowners and businesses after Storm Desmond.
As Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Westmorland and Lonsdale, James Airey reduced the incumbent’s majority of from 8949 to 777 – one of the biggest results of election night in the country.
James believes local issues are just as important as national ones and will always work hard to solve them.
