Ministers keep coming to Westmorland and Lonsdale support the campaign to elect James Airey

International Trade Minister Dr Liam Fox came to Kendal yesterday (Wednesday 31 May) to support James Airey in the campaign to send a Conservative MP to Parliament at next week’s General Election.

Liam Fox and James Airey visited Kendal Nutricare to hear from factory management and workers about their expansion plans. Dr Fox also rallied Conservative members at the Castle Green Hotel.

The Ministerial visit follows on from visits by Transport Minister Sir Chris Grayling, who supported James’s plans for safety improvement to the A590, Floods Minister Thérèse Coffey, to discuss action on flooding, and Environment and Farming Minister Andrea Leadsom, whom James brought together for a Q&A with local farmers and to highlight Conservative Government’s commitment to food and farming, benefitting workers in Westmorland and Lonsdale constituency.

Dr Liam Fox said: “”It was a pleasure to visit and meet Kendal Nutricare at James Airey’s invitation.”

“As the U.K. leaves the EU it is so important to have MPs who want Britain to make the most of the opportunities that Brexit present, rather than those who want to carp from the sidelines about a second referendum.

“James highlighted to me the importance of getting the best Brexit deal for businesses across Westmorland and Lonsdale as well as the need to make the most of the growing international markets to help local businesses expand and export internationally. He will be a truly influential Conservative MP in any Future government.”

My visit today, and those of my colleagues in recent days, highlight the importance of getting James Airey elected as your MP here in Westmorland and Lonsdale. The Conservatives have selected an excellent candidate in James Airey. A truly local man, he knows what matters to local people. Only a Conservative MP will bring the people of this area influence right to the heart of a future Conservative Government and I implore you to elect James as your MP on 8 June.”

Thanking the Minister for his visit and his support, James Airey said: “I am extremely grateful to Dr Liam Fox for coming to Kendal and for his inspiring commitment at such a critical time in the opening up of new international markets. Supporting existing business and championing future start-ups is at the heart of my Six Point Plan for Westmorland and Lonsdale if I get elected. The people of this area have my commitment to stand with Theresa May through the Brexit negotiations with the European Union and to support the growth of our key industries to deliver higher paid jobs for local people.”
